The Transformed Life and the Call to Serve

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
—Mary Oliver

Meru Institute offers a comprehensive learning experience in Yoga, Ayurveda and Seva: Community Ministry, along with support for living a yogic lifestyle—a way of life supportive of Self- and God-realization, along with engagement in family, career, and civic responsibilities. Immersion in meditation practice, yoga philosophy studies, and related lifestyle disciplines prepares students to teach meditation and spiritual practices as well as provide Vedic Counseling & Spiritual Direction in both informal and professional settings.

At the heart of our program is the philosophy and practice of Kriya Yoga, which offers every student the essential foundation of Self-and God-realization to illumine their vocation with the light of the soul.

Our Vedic Counseling & Spiritual Direction curriculum is a comprehensive approach drawn from ancient yoga philosophy and practices that guides students on their spiritual journey as they prepare to support others. The Vedic Counseling and Spiritual Direction Certification Program expands on the foundational aspects of prayer, meditation, sacred caregiving, and spiritual teachings that are learned in the first two years of study—to include more subtle practices, a deeper exploration of Ayurveda, and an introduction to Jyotish (Vedic Astrology). The training includes philosophical teachings, practical applications, assessment & intervention skills—as well as shadowing, practicum & mentoring.

Study with Meru Institute Founder and President, Yogacharya Ellen Grace O’Brian, and other internationally renowned faculty.

In addition to the three year Master of Divinity program, Meru offers meditation and hatha yoga teacher certification programs, and continuing education units for professionals.

Classes are scheduled to support working adults. Available in a serene, supportive environment onsite at Center for Spiritual Enlightenment in the Rose Garden District of San Jose, CA and globally online.

Are you ready for a vocation that integrates your spiritual life with your service in the world?

Are you looking for a program that offers practical skills, professional development, and spiritual transformation?

In this time of rapid change and global transformation there are those who are increasingly aware of an inner call to serve. This is the time when the soul’s prompting must be acknowledged and its inclination toward the experience of wholeness, freedom, true joy and fulfilled living must be honored. It is time not just to prepare ourselves for life, but to enter into Life, the spiritual journey of fulfilling our soul’s  destiny and our life purpose.
