Living the Spiritual Life

As one progresses on the spiritual path, becoming even more awake in God, there is a natural tendency to shift from striving to fulfill personal desires to desiring to be of service. Selfless service or Seva  (Sanskrit) is service which is performed without any expectation of result or award for the person performing it.

The idea of selfless service is an important concept in yogic traditions. Because God is perceived as Omnipresent, having a relationship with others, as well as oneself, serving other people is considered an essential devotional practice of indirectly serving God. Service to make life easier for others. The root of seva, sev, means to "attend" or "to go towards."

Service is the bridge connecting the soul, divine inspiration, and all other beings in Spirit. The step of surrender in service is a call to open to divine inspiration and taking the necessary steps to follow through. It is living the spiritual life.

To be engaged in what we do and never once forget God is the goal of seekers.
